Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP) Congress passed, and the President has signed into law, the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011. Included in this new law is the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). VRAP offers up to 12 months of training assistance to unemployed Veterans. The VRAP offers 12 months of training assistance to Veterans who: Are at least 35 but no more than 60 years old Are unemployed on the date of application Received an other than dishonorable discharge Are not be eligible for any other VA education benefit program (e.g.: the Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Assistance) Are not in receipt of VA compensation due to unemployability Are not enrolled in a federal or state job training program The program is limited to 45,000 participants from July 1, 2012, through September 30, 2012, and 54,000 participants from October 1, 2012, through March 31, 2014. The Continental Congress Establishes a Corps of Marines November 10, 1775, was officially recognized as the birthday of the United States Marine Corps through Marine Corps Order No. 47 in 1921. The order proudly states: "From the Battle of Trenton to the Argonne, Marines have won foremost honors in war, and in the long eras of tranquility at home, generation after generation of Marines have grown gray in war in both hemispheres and in every corner of the seven seas, that our country and its citizens might enjoy peace and security." On November 10, 1775 , the Continental Congress resolved, “that two Battalions of marines be raised,” and that they "be able to serve to advantage by sea when required" and "that they be distinguished by the names of the first & second battalions of American Marines." The Marion Civic Chorale is presenting a FREE concert to salute Veterans on Saturday, November 3rd at 3pm at St. George Anglican Church - 5646 SE 28th Street, Ocala - This star spangled concert will feature patriotic favorites such as the "Star Spangled Banner," "God Bless America," "Bring Him Home" (from Les Miserables), "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," "Going Home," "The Impossible Dream," "You'll Never Walk Alone," and selections from the Choral Suite "The Blue and the Gray."
