Post 27 #1 in District 4 Membership - 102%

Post 27 Members:
Congratulations, gentlemen for all your recruiting and clerical efforts for our Post 27. You have made us #1 in District 4 membership at over 102% already, (see the attached).

Special thanks to Adjutant Gene Andrews who, despite significant medical problems, promptly sent 127 renewal cards to Department as soon as dues were received. Also, special thanks to VCdr. Mike Croye who recently investigated a TFA claim with a positive result for the vet in need.

Our 6 November meeting is cancelled due to conflict with election night. Your next Post meeting is on Tuesday 4 December. Happy Thanksgiving to all, and let's be grateful that we're dry in Florida.
Best regards,
Cdr. Fred

Legion Post #27 is moving after 86 years!

American Legion Ocala Post #27 is moving out of the building they constructed in 1933. It is sad to leave our home after 86 years of fantastic memories. Think of all the World War II dances held to boost troop morale and raise funds to wage the war. The American Legion Building was the very first building constructed in Tuscawilla Park, which is just two blocks from Downtown Ocala. While we are sad to leave, we are equally excited about the advantages that the new building will offer. We firmly believe that the advantages outweigh the loss of our old building. Here are the advantages:  PARKING - The City is building a parking lot that will hold approximately 40 to 50 cars, plus an additional 14 near the building for people with disabilities. If that weren't enough, the County Health Department has signed an agreement that allows us to use up to 30 of their parking spots near our building. That gives us the ability to park nearly 100 cars for any of our programs or meeting

The Cake Time to cut the cake The Award The Presentation Commander Fred Miley presents Elden with the award for continuous membership in Post 27 at the July 2nd meeting of the Post.  Elden served as our chaplain until he recently retired from that position. Post 27 is currently seeking new members (must meet eligibility requirements of the American Legion), especially an ordained minister to serve as our chaplain. Interested parties call 286-4139.
