Post NEWSLETTERS are on the BLOG now!

To read the current issue or any of the back issues, just click on the link to our Newsletters from the menu to the right of the page! The 3rd issue will be out in mid-December! We hope to see increased use of this BLOG as a way to increase the flow of information to members of the Post. Post 27 Meeting Minutes posted on this BLOG!

Post 27 Meeting Minutes are now posted on this BLOG ... look on the right side for "Meeting Minutes" and select the month you want to read! ... You can review them whenever you would like. If you notice anything that need to be corrected, please let the Adjutant know and he will bring it up at the next meeting for approval. At present, the only minutes that are available on computer are the ones on the list. If I can find the earlier minutes I will scan them and make them available as well. We will be adding a page for old Post photos in the near future. Brian Voge Adjutant

Elden Luffman receives award for 65 years continuous membership at Post 27 (1947 to present)

Elden joined Post 27 in 1947 and has maintained membership continuously since that time. The Cake Time to cut the cake The Award The Presentation Commander Fred Miley presents Elden with the award for continuous membership in Post 27 at the July 2nd meeting of the Post.  Elden served as our chaplain until he recently retired from that position. Post 27 is currently seeking new members (must meet eligibility requirements of the American Legion), especially an ordained minister to serve as our chaplain. Interested parties call 286-4139.

Four Chaplains Ceremony Veterans Park Feb. 3rd @ 3pm

The Immortal Four Chaplains Ceremony at Veterans Park on February 3rd at 3pm Sunday, Feb. 3 will mark the historic 70th anniversary of the sinking of the United States Army Transport Dorchester and the legendary acts of selflessness of four Army chaplains who were aboard. Four Chaplains Day, as Congress has declared the date, honors the four chaplains who went down with their ship, as they gave their life jackets to other passengers. Legion posts nationwide are encouraged to commemorate the anniversary each February. This year, our memorial service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 3pm at the Veterans Park in Ocala .  The Four Chaplains – sometimes called the Immortal Chaplains – were men from four different religions who sacrificed their lives for men of all faiths.
